**About the Opportunity**
The PACER team are seeking a senior clinician ready to take the next step in their career, to continue the success of the SWSHLD PACER initiative in Bowral!
PACER is a joint initiative where experienced mental health clinician’s work alongside Emergency services by responding to requests from Police or Ambulance in Bowral to assist with mental health related concerns. The aim is to ensure mental health consumers are able to get timely access to appropriate mental health care that is least restrictive. The position will be required to work a 7 day rotating roster, which includes weekend and evening shifts.
The successful clinician will be working out of Bowral Community Health Centre, Bowral Hospital ED and Moss Vale Police Station covering the Goulburn Police Area Command.
**What you'll be doing**
The PACER Clinician is based within the Community Mental Health Emergency Teams in SWSLHD and will provide a highly mobile, recovery orientated clinical advice, consultancy and support to NSW Police managing mental health related cases in the community.
The PACER Clinician is a response requested by an operational police unit & provides mental health intervention & undertakes triage, primary client assessment & management of complex mental health emergencies & crises at an advanced level.
The position requires extensive knowledge of mental health disorders & demonstrated clinical practices to provide support, treatment, coordination & education to emergency services who work with consumers with complex mental & physical health needs. The successful applicant will be required to work evenings and weekends.

- Demonstrated understanding of issues that affect mental health consumers in hospital and community
- Demonstrated extensive experience in comprehensive assessment and management of mental health consumers, including assessment, counselling and referral skills
- Demonstrated evidence of implementing strategies to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
- Demonstrated high-level communication and engagement with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidence based practice
- Demonstrated leadership in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
