Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (0000B9QL)
Eligibility
This role is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Aboriginal and be accepted by the Aboriginal community as defined by the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983.
About the role
The Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (ACLO) is responsible for providing advice and support to commands in the management of local Aboriginal issues. The ACLO assists in establishing and maintaining close personal rapport with Elders, leaders and members of the Aboriginal community by developing network contacts to strengthen co‐operation and communication and to assist community members in dealing with local policing issues and their contact with other statutory bodies.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice and support to command officers on local Aboriginal issues.
* Develop and maintain relationships with Elders, leaders and Aboriginal community members.
* Establish strong networks to improve cooperation and communication.
* Assist community members in dealing with local policing matters and interactions with other statutory bodies.
Qualifications
* Hold a current driver's licence with no traffic offences recorded in the last six months, or hold NSW Police Force Bronze Certification.
* Aboriginal identity as a genuine occupational qualification, in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Rules 2014.
* Subject to the NSW Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 – applicants with certain serious sex offence convictions are prohibited.
* Provide a Prohibited Employment Declaration.
* Hold a Working With Children Check (WWCC); the applicant is responsible for applying for and maintaining a valid WWCC for five years.

Total Remuneration Package: Base salary ranges from $84,659 to $92,701 plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading.
