About us

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 45 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.

We deliver comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, NDIS, Aged Care and Community Services to more than 6,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Broome region.

BRAMS takes pride in providing a friendly and supportive workplace with generous salary packaging, access to a range of leave entitlements, and opportunities for career advancement.

About the role

The Cancer Registered Nurse plays an important role in improving cancer outcomes for Aboriginal people in our community. This position provides clinical leadership and expertise across the cancer care pathway, including screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and follow-up.

The Cancer Registered Nurse coordinates and monitors patient care, supports patients and families to navigate the health system, and works closely with the Aboriginal Cancer Support Officer for practical and emotional support.

Working within the BRAMS Model of Care and Quality Care Framework, the Cancer Registered Nurse leads initiatives to increase cancer screening rates and early diagnosis, builds the capacity of clinicians, and partners with the Health Promotion Team to develop relevant cancer education and awareness activities.

This position also works in partnership with hospitals, specialists and other services to strengthen referral pathways and address barriers to care for patients and families.

* 6 weeks annual leave
* Annual remote allowance of $1,300
* Salary packaging to maximise take-home pay
