As a result of continued growth, we are seeking a Legal Assistant in our Tweed Heads office working directly with a Senior Associate in our Personal Injury Team.
Whilst ideally we are looking to hire someone with prior legal experience, we would be open to a candidate with prior office or administrative experience with transferable skills looking to moving into the legal industry.
About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to valuably contribute to a busy team with varied daily work providing high volume administrative and secretarial support, whilst utilising your current skill set and adapting to learning new skills.
To be successful in this position you should have the ability to prioritise, good communication and organisational skills and possess a positive driven attitude, as well as willingness to work with a friendly and positive demeanour.
The Role
The successful applicant supporting the office in a range of legal assistant, reception, and administrative duties, under the supervision of a Senior Associate.
Although you will be based in our Tweed Heads office, you will be an integral part of a larger, collaborative team across the firm and you will also work alongside our larger Gold Coast team at Varsity Lakes.
Previous secretarial experience and the required skills are essential to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Preparation of correspondence and court documents;
* Digital dictation transcribing;
* Compilation of medical briefs and briefs to counsel and other experts;
* Telephone and email contact and support with our clients;
* Scheduling appointments with clients and doctors and coordinating conferences with counsel;
* Communication with third parties including medical facilities and Government departments;
* Photocopying and mail preparation including collating enclosures and arranging couriers;
* File management including electronic filing;
* Electronically archive of completed matters; and
* General office duties and administrative support.
The Candidate
This role provides an opportunity to build upon your existing office and legal experience, with long term prospects within the firm.
This is a full time onsite position, and the successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:
* Previous legal office/reception experience:
* Ability to work independently and also collaboratively in a busy and cohesive small team;
* High level typing and word processing skills;
* Strong organisational and communication skills;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills including articulate phone manner;
* A reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic work attitude;
* Proficiency in software and systems; Ideally Aderant & iManage (not essential); and
* Eagerness to learn new skills and contribute to the success of the practice area and wider firm.
