This role
As our Payroll Officer overseeing Employment Hero’s internal and Global Teams payroll across multiple geographies, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing on an international scale.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting & Reporting and forming part of the Finance team, this role is critical to the smooth running of our business. You’ll be the trusted subject matter expert on payroll operations, partnering with various internal teams and external providers to ensure our people are paid correctly, on time, and in line with local regulations.
Your key focus areas will be
- Preparation of pay runs, collaboration with outsourced payroll providers (for certain countries), and coordination with stakeholders across the business in different regions.
- Work closely with the accounting and compliance teams to ensure payroll-related journals and filings are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Prepare payroll reports and analysis for internal + Global team employees (AU, NZ, UK), ensuring compliance with diverse international payroll regulations.
- Work with outsourced payroll providers and EORs, first reviewing pay runs/invoices.
- Navigate and understand the complexities of payroll processes across different countries and regions and resolve any issues/discrepancies.
- Review WFH expenses and process claims/reimbursements.
- Work with accountants to ensure payroll filings and obligations are met in a timely manner (eg. PAYG/PAYE, payroll tax, super, workers compensation insurance renewals, etc).
- Serve as primary point of contact for Finance with the rest of the business and external vendors in relation to all payroll matters.
- Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations. Assist with cashflow forecasting of payroll and payroll-related expenses.
- Assist with external audits.
- Propose and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the global payroll review process.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

For this role you will also bring:
- 4+ years experience in a payroll role.
- KeyPay (Employment Hero Payroll) system experience essential.
- Experience running payroll in Australia and New Zealand is essential.
- Experience running payroll in the UK and other geographical areas (e.g. South East Asia) will be highly advantageous.
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with Excel/Google Sheets.
- Hungry, creative, enthusiastic, and data-driven with a diverse skill set to thrive in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity.
- Proven payroll experience in high volume setting.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with aptitude to learn and complete work within agreed deadlines.
- High level of discretion and ownership.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work with various internal and external partners with varying levels of payroll/finance knowledge.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to urgent or unforeseen circumstances.
