Join Woden Community Service (WCS) in a pivotal leadership role overseeing youth-focused programs and services that support children, young people and families to achieve positive, meaningful outcomes.
As the Team Leader – Child Youth and Family Services, you will lead the operational delivery of youth and family programs across WCS and its subsidiaries, including outreach, early intervention, group programs, case management and youth centre-based activities. You will provide strong leadership, supervision and support to multidisciplinary teams, while ensuring services are safe, person-centred, evidence-informed and aligned with funding requirements.
This role is based across the Woden, Gungahlin Youth Centres, Shea St, Phillip and Rosevear Pl, Dickson working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to strengthen service impact and community connections.

Job Description
About the Role
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
* Lead the delivery of youth and family support services that are young person-centred, family-focused and evidence-informed, including case management, outreach, early intervention and group-based programs.
* Provide leadership, supervision, coaching and performance management to a team of 7–12 direct reports, supporting workforce capability and a high-performing team culture.
* Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of family services and youth programs to ensure funding outputs, reporting requirements and performance expectations are met.
* Oversee the safe and impactful operation of youth-focused service delivery spaces, including the Woden and Gungahlin Youth Centres, ensuring service continuity and quality.
* Manage staffing, rostering and capacity planning in line with service demand and budget requirements, escalating emerging risks as required.
* Collect, analyse and use operational, financial and practice-based data to inform continuous quality improvement, innovation and service growth.
* Develop regular program and management reports to support senior leadership decision-making and external stakeholder engagement.
* Build and maintain strong referral pathways and partnerships across the Child, Youth and Family Service System, schools and community organisations.
* Actively seek and incorporate service user feedback, supporting meaningful participation in planning and service improvement processes.
* Ensure practice alignment with internal policies, external frameworks, accreditation and National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
* Support audits, reviews and accreditation processes and contribute to quality and compliance activities.
* Model WCS values, ethical practice, diversity and equity principles at all times.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience and Qualifications:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Program Management or related field, and/or significant relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role within community services.
* Extensive experience working with children, young people and families using case management, outreach and group-based approaches.
* Strong skills in staff supervision, performance management and workforce development.
* Sound program management experience, including evaluation and reporting.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with databases and report writing.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships and referral networks.
* Strong understanding of professional boundaries, ethical practice, policies and procedures.
* Bachelor's degree in social work, Social Services or Psychology.
* Minimum three years' leadership experience within a community services or youth sector setting.
* Experience working within the Child, Youth and Family Service System.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership development experience.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for employment, you must have:
* A current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card
* Working rights in Australia
* Willingness to undertake required background checks, including a National Police Check
Note: This is a fixed-term contract ending 30/06/2027 with the potential for extension.
