The UWA Student Guild has provided services for UWA Students since 1913. Providing relevant, high-quality support to UWA students, whilst remaining financially, environmentally and socially conscious, we are regarded as the benchmark for student guilds nationwide.
The Guild is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Officer to provide expert advice and support on recruitment, employee and industrial relations, professional development and Workplace Health & Safety.
This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).
Reporting to the Managing Director, the HR Officer will play a key role in managing the day-to-day HR operations. Responsibilities include:
* Attract, develop and retain staff through end-to-end recruitment and onboarding
* Oversee performance management and career development processes
* Provide advice on industrial relations and Fair Work legislation
* Maintain position descriptions, personnel files and HR policies
* Provide HR analysis and advice to the Executive team as required
* Complete the Workplace Gender Equity reporting requirements
* Assist managers with the performance appraisal and KPI process
* Provide a confidential, safe-space for staff and student representatives to discuss personal and professional concerns.
The candidate we are looking for will be able to address the majority of the following:
* 3+ years experience as a HR generalist, ideally in a stand-alone role
* Strong understanding of relevant workplace legislation and awards
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
* Experience with the WGEA reporting requirements (desirable)
* Experience with negotiating Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (desirable)
* Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety best practice
* Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation and the community
* Confidence to provide advice and support to managers with performance management issues
