Job Overview
Our client is a well-established Australian automation solutions provider with over 40 years of experience supporting the manufacturing industry. Known for their strong company culture and long-term growth mindset, they deliver end-to-end automation solutions across sectors including packaging, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive, and general manufacturing.
Due to continued project wins, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Melbourne-based team and play a key role in the delivery of new automation and machinery projects. This is a hands-on design role working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team across a steady pipeline of work.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical machinery for automation projects on typical 4–6 week project cycles
* Produce 3D models including assemblies and sub-assemblies
* Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials (BOMs)
* Work closely with management and internal teams to meet customer requirements, design specifications, and project timelines
* Support resource planning and assist with prioritisation of project backlogs
* Work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team environment
About You
* Proven experience designing mechanical machinery within a manufacturing or automation environment
* Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor
* Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with both internal stakeholders and customers
* Solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capability and initiative
