Software engineer vacation student

Shape your world by joining Alcoa's Vacation Student program. This 12‐week paid summer placement, based in WA at our Huntly Mine Site, gives you hands‐on experience in mining operations and technology. You'll be matched with a senior specialist who will provide training, mentorship, and coaching.

• Assist in maintaining and supporting operational technology (OT) applications used in mining operations
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technology solutions
• Monitor, analyse and troubleshoot applications and operational data to identify and resolve issues
• Support deployment, integration and ongoing maintenance of software systems in live production environments

• Currently studying a tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline
• Ideally in the penultimate year of study, but applications from all year groups are accepted
• Self‐motivated and passionate, eager to learn and expand knowledge
• Capable of working independently and communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
• Strong team player with effective time‐management, organisational and problem‐solving skills
• Available to commence at the end of November for a full‐time 12‐week term ending in February
• Able to travel to and from the work location each day
