An exciting opportunity has become available at one of our clients who is looking for a budding IT Network enthusiast to engage as a Trainee IT Facilities Engineer and participate in a 1-year infrastructure project. This role will support a major CableSolve upgrade, involving auditing the client's data cabling network and maintaining accurate records within the CableSolve system for planning and management purposes.
This is a hands‐on, part-time role, based in the Western suburbs, Melbourne, ideally suited to a graduate, university student, or early‐career network professional looking to gain real‐world experience in a large, complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Audit and document the existing data cabling infrastructure across airport terminals.
* Capture and maintain accurate records in the CableSolve system.
* Work on-site conducting physical inspections of cabling and network assets.
* Spend part of each day supporting BAU activities, including fault investigation.
* Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to contractors on-site.
* Collaborate closely with the facilities and network teams.
Key Experience
* Studying towards, or recently completed, a qualification in IT, Networking or Engineering.
* Background or strong interest in network engineering or infrastructure.
* Proactive, self‐motivated, and willing to learn.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
* Comfortable working on-site and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
* Available to commit 3–5 days per week, depending on deliverables, over the term of the project.
