Job Overview
The role of a Graduate Geologist at the Ballarat Gold Mine involves working under supervision to coordinate mine geologists and underground operators, issue geological control instructions, collect rock chip and sludge drilling samples, and perform other tasks.
* Coordinate with mine geologists and underground operators to ensure required headings are mapped and photographed.
* Issue Geological Control Instructions (GCIs).
* Collect rock chip and sludge drilling samples.
* Collect geological information including lithology and structural measurements.
* Deliver samples to on-site assay laboratory.
* Enter data into database daily.
* Conduct stope inspections.
* Rotate and mark-up drill core for geological logging.
* Record basic geotechnical logging data.
* Sample drill core.
* Transfer full core trays between roller racks and storage pallets.
* Clean out and stack used core trays for reuse.
* Operate hand-held X-Ray Fluorescence device.
* Operate forklift if licensed.
* Perform other duties as directed.
