Overview
We are seeking a talented and versatile Interior Designer to join our team in a full-time, inhouse role. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with a residential builder, guiding clients through every stage of the design journey - from prestart selections and 3D visualisations to post-handover styling.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the full design journey for residential builds, including:
* External selections (roofing, windows, render, bricks, cladding, garage doors, paving, screening, balustrades, fencing).
* Internal finishes (flooring, tiling, cabinetry, benchtops, paint schedules, feature walls/ceilings, door hardware, balustrades).
* Tapware and plumbing selections.
* Provide 3D visualisation of rooms using SketchUp or similar software to bring client concepts to life.
* Produce clear and concise documentation including marked plans, specification sheets and tile/finish schedules.
* Conduct client consultations to refine design concepts, present samples, and provide professional advice on layout, joinery, lighting and styling.
* Assist with post-handover services, including furniture layout, sourcing furnishings, window treatments and styling for a complete turnkey solution.
* Liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, trades and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
* Stay across design trends while ensuring timeless, practical outcomes tailored to each project.
About You
1. Tertiary qualification in Interior Design.
2. Minimum 3+ years' experience in residential design, ideally within the building industry.
3. Strong computer literacy is essential - must be confident using:
* SketchUp (or similar 3D software) for visualisations.
* Construction/design programs for documentation and plan mark-ups.
* Adobe Creative Suite / Canva (InDesign/Photoshop) for presentations.
* Sound knowledge of building processes, materials and finishes.
* Excellent presentation, communication and client liaison skills.
* Ability to balance creativity with cost-efficiency.
* Detail-focused with proven experience preparing trade-ready documentation.
