As a skilled caregiver, you will work as part of an integrated team to promote the delivery of quality care to residents. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring that we are providing high-quality care to our residents at all times.
Caregivers work within the aged care team to support the provision of care to residents and their families. You will demonstrate competence in the provision of resident-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a range of personal care tasks, including daily hygiene, such as showering, shaving, dressing, mouth and eye care, as per established frameworks and guidelines.
* Observe the condition of residents and report any changes to the Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse, Facility Manager or appropriate person, completing required documentation.
* Treat each resident with dignity and respect, providing opportunities for making decisions concerning their day-to-day routine.
* Assist residents who require assistance with mobility, as per care plans, encouraging independence and ambulation.
* Support residents to live the life they choose, allowing them to exercise choice and independence.
* Contribute to the physical, emotional and lifestyle needs and wants of residents through assessment and observation.
* Implement clinical and care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse, documented in the resident's plan of care.
Requirements
* Certificate III in individual support, or equivalent recognised qualification.
* Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
* A desire to provide care and support to others in a mission-based organisation.
* Ability to engage with residents and experience in dementia support.
* Effective prioritisation of workload, flexibility, empathy and patience when working with aged individuals.
* Demonstrated ability to provide holistic care.
* Respect for residents' privacy, dignity and self-esteem.
* Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
* Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control.
