IAG's Group Actuarial team are recruiting for a Senior Actuarial Analyst position to support the Predictive Modelling team. In this role, you will support Group Actuarial's purpose of enabling better strategic decisions through technical analysis of historical experience and trends, leveraging actuarial and machine learning techniques to value insurance liabilities and provide insights into the drivers of claims experience.
Our team comprises of passionate experts who develop and enhance our predictive modelling platforms for reserving and capital and collaborate with stakeholders across IAG to deliver value-adding advice. This position is perfect for those with an interest in financial modelling, programming, and automation, primarily using SQL for data storage and manipulation, and R for predictive modelling and data analysis. This is a perm full time opportunity based in Gadigal Country (Sydney).
What You'll Do Advise & Build Relationships
* Establish and maintain working relationships within Analytical and Actuarial communities, particularly the reserving advisory teams.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to obtain and understand support as required.
* Provide pragmatic advice, with appropriate backing of technical knowledge & results, to support business decisions.
Technical Analysis & Development
* Perform analysis that supports Group valuation, claims insights and monitoring of claim experience.
* Contribute to the calibration, development, and enhancement of the internal actuarial reserving platform.
* Support data preparation, investigation, and validation across large, complex Group datasets.
* Maintain and enhance the Group‐wide claims database, including improving efficiency, data quality, and reporting capability.
* Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to processes, modelling approaches, and automation.
* Progress formal training of core technical skills (e.g. Actuarial exams).
Governance, Monitor & Report
* Develop and adhere to governance process standards.
* Be vigilant in the scrutiny of data quality by performing appropriate levels of data reconciliation on key assumptions and results with limited guidance.
* At all times, appropriately challenge assumptions and results used in analyses.
* Develop and maintain efficient internal / external reporting processes.
* Develop and maintain key process / methodology documents and other learning materials.
Qualifications What You'll Bring
* Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate technical discipline e.g., Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Engineering.
Experience
* Prior practical experience (minimum 3 years) in the analysis of complex data, with a preference to past experience in General Insurance Actuarial roles.
* Practical experience with analytical software such as SAS, Excel, SQL, R or Python.
* Technical skills dealing with data and automation of data systems.
* A good communicator and team player.
