The role will suit a Legal Secretary who enjoys a high level of responsibility and has previous experience working in a busy, fast-paced practice. You will need a positive, 'can-do' attitude, a fast and accurate typing speed, ability to meet deadlines and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word.
**The role**:
- Meet and deal with clients including responding to queries, instructions and requests. 
- Liaise with court registry staff, judges' associates, junior and senior counsel, process servers, witnesses and other relevant authorities as required. 
- Conduct limited research on behalf of solicitors. 
- Compile briefs to Counsel as directed. 
- Prepare documents (Local and Supreme Court). 
- Prepare letters, file notes, pleadings, evidence and briefs under the supervision of a solicitor. 
- Take initial enquiries in potential new matters where necessary. 
- Record court hearing dates as necessary. 
- Maintain diaries for solicitors. 
- Make appointments - clients, barristers, etc. 
- Open and close files in LEAP as required including managing LEAP document production and storage. 
- Assist with invoicing and follow up overdue payments with clients as required 
- Assist solicitors with time recording as needed. 
- Answer telephone calls in a qualified manner 
- Arrange conference calls as required. 
- Transcription of dictation, photocopying, faxing and binding documents. 
- Perform other administrative functions as directed by the Partners or Practice Manager.
**What we're looking for**:
- Minimum of five years' experience in a similar role 
- Strong computer skills including MS Office and typing skills 
- Familiarity with Court forms 
- The ability to work on multiple matters, including prioritising work, arranging solicitors' diaries and meeting deadlines 
- Excellent attention to detail 
- Robust communication and organisational skills 
- Previous experience using LEAP an advantage 
- Ability to use PEXA desirable 
- Experience across other practice areas including family law and conveyancing desirable
