Carrington is a not-for-profit center of excellence for retirees and has been providing state-of-the-art services and accommodation for independent living, residential care, and community care since 1889. Located in the historic village of Camden, Carrington is situated on 400 acres with an idyllic garden and bushland setting, with sweeping views over the Camden Valley.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As an Operational Manager, you will lead and manage Carrington’s housekeeping and food service operations teams, including serveries and cleaning services, to ensure exceptional service delivery that complies with aged care standards, legislation, Carrington’s policies, and allocated budgets. Through coaching, mentoring and supporting your frontline team, you will ensure a culture of service excellence, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all service areas, and thereby increase resident engagement and quality of life. This full time role is located onsite, and includes either a Saturday or Sunday on alternate weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining a strong, cohesive team culture that values accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Providing effective people leadership, including clear communication, coaching & mentoring, maintaining effective rosters & staffing structures, recruiting and onboarding new staff, conducting regular performance reviews, coordinating team training needs, etc.
- Championing a resident-first approach to service delivery, handling feedback and ensuring the highest levels of satisfaction across services.
- Overseeing the daily operations of housekeeping and food service functions, including inventory, ensuring compliant with aged care standards, Carrington’s policies, and infection control protocols.
- Assisting with managing labour, food, and consumables budgets effectively to ensure cost efficiency and optimal resource utilisation
ABOUT YOU
Essential Criteria
1. Certificate IV in Frontline Management, Hospitality or equivalent
2. Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
3. Minimum 5 years' leadership experience in hospitality, aged care or other service industry, including managing diverse teams across multiple units or facilities.
4. At least 3 years in a people management or supervisory role, with proven success in leading, coaching, and developing teams.
5. Demonstrated experience implementing WHS, food safety, housekeeping, and infection control standards.
6. Experience in budgeting, stock control, and workforce planning.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and rostering/scheduling systems.
8. Completion of a pre-employment assessment and a National Criminal History check clearance during recruitment process.
Desirable
- Knowledge of aged care quality standards
- Thorough understanding of best practices in aged care housekeeping, catering, and laundry operations.
