Travers bushfire & ecology is looking for an experienced Archaeologist. In addition to end-to-end project management of historical and Aboriginal archaeological projects, we are looking for someone to build networks and expand our existing services in this discipline.

About the role – your average day will look like this:
* Provide high quality heritage advice and services to a range of stakeholders in relation to the Heritage Act 1977 and the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974
* Delivery of archaeological advice, preparation of due diligence reports, preparation of cultural heritage management plans and reporting for development applications/SSD approvals, as well as test and salvage excavations for the management of Aboriginal and historical archaeological resources
* Experience in the preparation of permit applications for historical and Aboriginal test and salvage excavation programs
* Experience in preparing archaeological reports under the Integrated DA and SSD Applications pathways
* Undertake consultation with Aboriginal communities and representatives
* End-to-end management of projects, including field work components
* Client communication, including business development activities
About you:
The successful applicant will have the choice of being based at our Maitland or Kariong (Central Coast) office. Hybrid/remote working arrangements are also offered. You will need:
* A bachelor’s degree or higher in archaeology
* Knowledge and understanding of the Heritage Act 1977 and the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974
* Experience preparing Aboriginal Due Diligence Reports, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports, historical archaeological reports and other related documents
* Experience preparing archaeological research designs and conducting archaeological surveys and excavation programs
* Previous consulting experience in NSW
* Experience fostering and maintaining effective relationships with Aboriginal parties, including community consultation, and strong knowledge of formal consultation processes
* A high level of attention to detail
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, as you will liaise with team members from different disciplines, clients and government agencies to ensure delivery of innovative solutions that meet client and broader community expectations
* Flexibility around geographic locations of work as some travel and overnight stays may be required
* Strong organisational and time management skills in order to plan and manage projects
* High level competencies with the MS Office suite
* A valid Australian manual driver’s licence, with four-wheel drive experience and training preferable
