About the Rehabilitation Medicine Department
Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north‐east of Melbourne and statewide. We have a highly engaged, diverse and team‐oriented workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives. Rehabilitation Medicine operates across the campuses of Austin Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre (RTRC). Acute spinal, Better@Home, consult rounds and some clinics operate on the Austin campus. RTRC is the location for a unique and comprehensive combination of rehabilitation services to patients with a wide range of needs, including programs for people with spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, amputations, orthopaedic conditions, neurological conditions, multi‐trauma and general rehabilitation including post‐op reconditioning. This allows broad exposure and culture with teaching in the major core areas of rehabilitation medicine. At RTRC we have ***** beds across 3 wards as well as ambulatory programs and clinics.
About the Role
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic Medical Practitioners to join our team as a Rehabilitation Registrar in the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre for the **** Clinical Year (commencing 1 February ****).
We have 6 registrar posts available:
* 2 x Spinal Rehabilitation.
* 1 x Amputee, Orthopaedic & General Rehabilitation.
* 1 x ABI & Neurological Rehabilitation.
* 1 x Better@Home Rehabilitation.
* 1 x unaccredited leave cover position for 26 weeks per year.
Preference will be given to registered Advanced Trainees in Rehabilitation Medicine (contact AFRM for details), and to those applying for 12‐month positions.
About you
* Sound medical/surgical knowledge.
* Understanding of the biopsychosocial approach to patient management.
* The capacity to supervise and teach junior staff and students.
* Ability to build rapport with patients and their carers, and families.
