Contribute to a Safer South Australia
South Australia Police (SAPOL) provides essential services to the community, working to create a safe and peaceful environment through the prevention of crime and disorder. As a large and complex organisation operating across more than 100 locations on a 24/7 basis, SAPOL plays a critical role in supporting the wellbeing and safety of South Australians. Guided by values of Service, Integrity, Courage, Leadership, Collaboration and Respect, SAPOL continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community it serves.
The opportunity now exists for a Principal Industrial Adviser to join SAPOL's Workplace Relations Branch within People, Culture and Wellbeing at an important time, as the organisation continues to strengthen its workforce capability, support frontline delivery and navigate an increasingly complex industrial landscape.
The Principal Industrial Adviser is a key role responsible for leading workplace relations functions and providing high-level strategic industrial advice across the organisation. Reporting to the Officer in Charge, Workplace Relations Branch, the role will partner closely with Executive and line managers to deliver expert guidance on industrial matters, manage complex negotiations and support the development of workplace policies and procedures. The position will also represent SAPOL in industrial forums, including the South Australian Employment Tribunal, and contribute to the development and implementation of workforce transition and change strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of industrial legislation, awards and enterprise agreements within a large, complex or public sector environment. You will bring demonstrated capability in managing sensitive negotiations, resolving complex industrial matters and providing strategic, high-level advice to senior stakeholders. A collaborative and solutions-focused approach, combined with strong communication and influencing skills, will be essential. Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, industrial relations, human resource management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
