Overview

Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network - Whyalla. Full Time | Ongoing. Base Salary Range: RN/M2C | $87,416 - $110,497 p.a; RN/M1 | $74,831 - $102,103 p.a; AHP1/2 | $71,217 - $106,330 p.a. In addition to base salary, this position attracts Superannuation, Leave Loading, and Salary Sacrificing Benefits (salary packaging). The classification RN/M may also be eligible for Zone Allowance and once off Incidental Payment (conditions apply), and Professional Development Allowance.

Note: as this position is multi-classed as either a RN/M2C, RN/M1 or AHP1/2, the classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Site and Service: Community Mental Health Team

The Community Mental Health Teams are located at both Port Augusta and Whyalla, providing specialised one-to-one counselling, group work, care coordination and health promotional activities to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social health and wellbeing. Workers provide information, education, counselling and support to adults, families and carers whose lives are affected by mental health issues. There are also specialist youth mental health clinicians based in the region and access to specialist older persons mental health services.

Relocation and Accommodation Assistance: Financial assistance for relocation may be available for eligible applicants for appointments prior to 31 December 2026. Accommodation support may be available - conditions apply.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C), you will deliver essential mental health nursing services across various settings, progressing from a competent to a proficient practitioner. You will take accountability for your practice standards while mentoring less experienced staff. You will also assume portfolio responsibilities that align with your career development goals.

The Registered Nurse (RN/M1) will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health services, addressing the needs of consumers and the community. You will enhance skills through continuous professional development while providing integrated care across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings. You will engage in individual and family therapies, group programs, and health promotion initiatives. You will be accountable for nursing standards and activities delegated to others as you progress from novice to proficient practitioner.

The Allied Health Professionals (AHP1/2), Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers contribute to a comprehensive range of services and work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering preventative, early intervention, treatment, and evaluative approaches, including evidence-based practices, psychological assessments, individual and family therapies, group programs, and community development initiatives.

About You

RN/M2C

- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice.

RN/M1

- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.

AHP1/2

Occupational Therapist

- Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist in Australia.

Psychologist

- AHP1: Must hold a recognised four-year qualification within the Psychology profession and be eligible to hold provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. For the duration of employment, the Provisional Psychologist must work toward full registration under an arrangement approved by the Board, such as a Clinical Master’s degree or a Psychology Internship and must comply with all Psychology Board requirements including those relating to clinical supervision and restrictions on practice.
- AHP2: Must hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. This normally requires at least an Honours Degree in Psychology and subsequent completion of 2 years of Board approved supervision and training as a Provisional Psychologist, either by completion of an approved Psychology postgraduate degree or in a Board approved psychology internship, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Clinical endorsement with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligible and willing to participate in AHPRA Clinical Psychology Registrar Program is desirable.

Social Worker

- Must hold a recognised qualification within the Social Work profession and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Must have participated in ongoing professional development in line with AASW guidelines.

Immunisation Risk: Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)

Immunisation and applicant information

- Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and Immunisation compliance as indicated on the Role description.
- SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
