About the role: The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is seeking solicitors to join our dynamic Trial Divisions and Specialist Trial Prosecution teams on a full time, ongoing or fixed term basis. As a solicitor you will play a key role in the heart of our operations, responsible for preparing and conducting a variety of matters for early resolution or trials in the County and Supreme Courts of Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity for early career solicitors who are looking for long-term career progression, and structured professional development within a leading prosecution agency. In this role you will: Prepare and instruct in committals, pleas, trial and other hearings in the Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts. Undertake research and analysis of legal issues and providing advice and recommendations as required. Engage with key legal stakeholders to identify opportunities for early case resolution. About you: You will be a dedicated solicitor looking to build a long-term career in criminal prosecution, with: Knowledge of Criminal Law and Procedure, the Law of Evidence and other relevant legislation. The ability to undertake legal research as required to prepare prosecutions of moderate complexity. High level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders. You will be admitted to the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer and hold a current Victorian Practising Certificate.
