Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) serves as the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS unites various Aboriginal health leaders and organisations to advocate for and improve health and well-being among Aboriginal communities.

Position Overview
The Cultural Lead – Mental Health & SEWB Services is based in Broome on a Full-time 12 month Fixed-term Contract. You will be pivotal in providing cultural leadership and strategic advice to ensure that the delivery of mental health and social emotional well-being (SEWB) services is culturally appropriate and community-led. This role is essential for embedding cultural security and integrity within all SEWB services and for driving continuous quality improvement processes aligned with Aboriginal healing approaches.
In this capacity, the Cultural Lead will oversee the integration of prevention, intervention, and postvention responses, including suicide prevention initiatives, while promoting trauma-informed practises across both clinical and non-clinical service delivery. The position requires collaboration with various partners to co-design and implement a Cultural Security Framework, ensuring that services reflect community voices and lived experiences.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultures and social emotional well-being frameworks, coupled with experience in delivering mental health services within Aboriginal communities. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and build respectful relationships with First Nations individuals and families.

* Relevant qualifications or experience in allied health, Aboriginal health work, or related fields.
* Proven track record in quality improvement processes and community engagement.
* Experience in providing cultural mentorship and guidance within multidisciplinary teams.
The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously while also contributing to team-based efforts within a complex regional environment. Strong communication skills are essential, alongside a commitment to the principles of Aboriginal Community Control and Primary Health Care.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a base salary of $118,974 per annum pro rata, along with various allowances including
* Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 p.a pro rata
* District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double) p.a pro rata
* Electricity Allowance of $1,440 p.a pro rata
* Annual Airfare of $1,285 p.a pro rata (after 12 months of service).
* Option for salary sacrifice up to $30,000 p.a pro rata.
