About the role Based in our Temora Office with flexibility to offer this role as a hybrid opportunity, this role will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the transport business unit. Managing internal and local freight arrangements, fleet management, compliance, customer relationships, and financial performance this role carries responsibility for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport services aligned with business objectives, customer expectations, and Australian regulatory standards. You will be responsible for Developing and implementing transport strategies and processes to support business objectives. Overseeing day-to-day transport and logistics operations including route optimisation, scheduling, dispatch, and delivery performance. Ensuring effective fleet utilisation and maintenance programs. Implementing and maintaining systems and technologies to enhance operational efficiency. Managing 3PL arrangements with local transport providers. Reviewing performance of KPIs with relevant to all aspects of the performance of the Transport Operations business unit as part of quarterly reporting. Managing maintenance and reporting of Repairs & Maintenance, Safety and Compliance of our trucking fleet to meet NHVR requirements. Overseeing the management of rosters and schedules ensuring adequate resources are planned to maximise efficiency and service requirements. Leading the safe operations of our transport fleet to ensure all operations adhere to National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) standards, WHS regulations, and company policies. Ensuring all vehicles and drivers meet compliance requirements (e.g., fatigue management, mass management, maintenance). About You This opportunity will suit someone with proven experience working in the transport and fleet management industry, preferably within the agricultural. To be successful in this role, you will have: Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior operational role within the transport/logistics industry, preferably with direct fleet management responsibility. Demonstrable experience in driver scheduling, fleet maintenance management, and ensuring road transport compliance. In-depth knowledge of NHVR regulations, fatigue management, CoR (Chain of Responsibility), and WHS legislation relevant to the transport industry. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational abilities. Qualifications in any relevant area such as supply chain management, business administration, or logistics would be advantageous. Can-do attitude and ability to thrive in a pressured and evolving environment. Problem solving, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
