About The OPPORTUNITY
We have a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Integrated Defence & Autonomous Systems team, working within the periscope sustainment program. This role will be based at Mawson Lakes, SA reporting to the Project Engineering Manager.
This role will see you utilise your mechanical engineering knowledge to cover a range of tasks. You will be working closely with the maintenance technicians to perform technical investigations and engineering assessments to maintain the technical integrity of the periscopes.
You will be working on a legacy product where obsolescence remediation will also be an ongoing activity. Ensuring the product meets the OEM requirements and compliance standard will be critical for this role.
Key Responsibilities Include
Provide technical advice to maintenance technicians when production test requirements cannot be met when following specified proceduresIdentifying suitable alternatives to components or materials no longer available due to obsolescenceGeneration of statements of work for new services required for the manufacture, repair or maintenance of periscope parts and assembliesConduct assessments of failure/usage rate of equipment to support purchase of spare partsDesign and prototyping of parts and tooling to support maintenance operationsReview of engineering drawings to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.Performing investigations into failures and implementing identified corrective actions to improve system reliability
This role will require occasional travel to Western Australia to visit the customer's operational site.

About YOU
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally Mechanical EngineeringDemonstrated experience working as an engineer with high integrity systemsThe ability to problem solve and seek alternate solutions for obsolescence of a legacy productPractical hands-on experience with sophisticated mechanical hardware and assembliesExcellent interpersonal skills – the ability to liaise with various stakeholders, speak up about issues identified and work in a nurturing team environmentDefence security clearance or eligibility to obtainEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
