Your Employer Our client is a long-established, family-run vegetable growing business operating in Hay Valley, South Australia. The operation is vertically integrated, producing premium Brussels sprouts alongside carrots and potatoes across multiple farm sites with year-round production. To support their operations, the business runs a well-equipped in-house workshop responsible for mechanical repairs, fabrication, and infrastructure improvements across the farm. The team designs and builds custom equipment for harvesting and irrigation, maintains a large fleet of agricultural machinery, and supports ongoing upgrades to sheds, packhouse facilities, and farm systems. The Role This Maintenance Technician position is a hands-on mechanical role within a high-functioning farm workshop. You will work closely with experienced tradespeople to maintain, repair, and improve agricultural machinery, infrastructure, and workshop systems. The role offers a diverse workload across mechanical maintenance, custom builds, and farm infrastructure projects, with no repetitive production-line work. Key responsibilities: Diagnose and repair agricultural machinery and mechanical systems Conduct preventative maintenance across tractors, implements, and equipment Assist with custom fabrication and modification of farm machinery Support irrigation systems, pumps, and farm infrastructure maintenance Assist with shed builds and workshop-based mechanical projects About You You are a practical, mechanically minded technician who enjoys working in a hands-on workshop environment. You take pride in your work, approach problems methodically, and are comfortable working across varied mechanical tasks rather than repetitive production work. Key criteria: Strong mechanical maintenance skills (diagnosis and repair) Experience working with heavy machinery or agricultural equipment Basic welding skills for repairs and fabrication tasks Strong problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required Ability to adapt to varied tasks and changing priorities Relevant mechanical trade qualification advantageous but not essential The Benefits: This role offers a strong work-life balance alongside long-term job stability within a supportive and practical farm workshop environment.
