Pathology Support Specialist - Haematology & Transfusion
We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pathology support for various complex clinical services and major traumas in the South East Sydney Local Health District, as well as referrals from other public and private pathology laboratories.
This role involves working in a dynamic environment where you will be part of a team that provides essential pathology services to clients in Southern Sydney. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals and contributing to better health outcomes for the community.
* Laboratory Investigations and Tests: Perform a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) by applying established methods and procedures, as directed.
* Maintenance and Preparation: Undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures, and protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment while also delivering results independently. A high level of initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills is required, along with a commitment to quality management and continuous quality improvement.
To be eligible for this role, candidates must have a minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
* Clinical Skills: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, and Quality Systems.
* Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients, as well as clinical laboratory staff.
* Problem-Solving: Display initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues.
