Senior HR Business Partner @ Vela APX | People & Culture
We're looking for a HR Advisor to join our team on a 12-month contract, providing day‑to‑day HR advisory support across the organisation.
In this role, you'll partner with leaders and employees to provide practical advice on people matters covering the full employee lifecycle. You'll work in a generalist advisory capacity, supporting queries related to recruitment, onboarding, employment documentation, performance, conduct etc.
Alongside advisory support, this role also includes hands‑on administrative tasks such as maintaining HR records, ensuring data accuracy, and managing HR systems. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing advisory work with the structured side of HR operations and understands the importance of getting the detail right.
This role is based in Brisbane and offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of two days per week in the office (additional office days will be required during the initial training period).
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for general HR enquiries, supporting leaders and employees.
* Provide advice on policy interpretation, employment legislation, performance, conduct, leave, recruitment, and employee documentation.
* Support and coach leaders on employee relations matters including performance management, investigations, and grievances.
* Escalate complex or high‑risk cases while providing routine advisory support.
* Maintain accurate HR data and records and oversee HR system maintenance.
* Contribute to HR initiatives, projects, and change and engagement activities.
* Identify opportunities to improve HR policies, processes, and documentation.
About You
You are an approachable and solutions‑focused HR professional with:
* Demonstrated experience in a HR generalist or advisory role.
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
* Proven experience providing advice and supporting employee relations case management.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
* Ability to manage competing priorities confidentially and professionally.
