ABOUT THE ROLE
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing Chisholm’s multi-campus facilities operations, ensuring an optimised student experience.
This role aligns facility services with Chisholm’s strategic objectives while focusing on improving operational efficiency, maintaining stakeholder relationships, delivering safe campuses and implementing sustainability practices.
Reporting to the Head of Campus Services & Infrastructure (CSI), the Operations Manager is a member of the CSI Leadership Team (CSILT) as well as a member of the broader Campus Services & Infrastructure and Information & Technology Services (ITS) Leadership Forum.
The Operations Manager manages building and grounds cleaning, maintenance and repairs in order to maintain a safe, clean and fit-for-purpose environment for campus staff and students.
The role will have a focus on contract management, workplace health and safety, customer service and responsive maintenance.
The Operations Manager will liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders including contractors, education delivery teams and professional staff; and will manage the timely response to maintenance requests.
Key responsibilities
- Leading CSI compliance with relevant policies, regulations, building codes and legislative requirements for parking, property and campus safety.
- Lead campus-wide Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) risk management works to improve campus safety in line with Chisholm’s compliance with the OHS Act and other relevant frameworks.
- Manage operations contracts, performance and reporting.
- Establish rigorous annual planning cycles across all operational functions.
- Implement contract management plans and an audit regime across all operational programs to ensure performance is measured.
- Carry out commercial negotiations with contractors, suppliers, consultants and authorities within established limits of authority.
- Lead a team of coordinators dedicated to service delivery, safety, and campus experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including delivery areas, contractors, and internal teams.
- Coordinate and participate as required in security team out-of-hours response.
- Oversee and manage the efficient use of campus facilities.
ABOUT YOU
You are a highly motivated individual with:
- Expertise in facilities operations and compliance with industry standards and government regulations.
- Ability to cope with change and disruptive technology without compromise to service standards.
- Sound written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and contracts.
- Working knowledge of risk management principles and process.
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration and procurement.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills with a strong customer focus.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary and post graduate qualifications in Property or Facilities Management or similar or demonstrated practical experience in this area.
