About the Opportunity
This role has end to end responsibility for the architecture and commercial functions within Endeavour Technology. In partnership with the Transformation Director this role will define the governance framework for Endeavour’s technology transformation and has sole responsibility for defining governance for programs and projects outside of transformation.
Endeavour is embarking on a large-scale end to end technology transformation and this leader will play a key role in successfully delivering that transformation and step changing Endeavour’s technology capabilities.
A day in the life of a General Manager - Architecture & Governance
Strategy
1. Develop a strong understanding of the Endeavour strategies
2. Partner with Endeavour Technology Domain Leads to develop 5+ year technology roadmaps that establish a fit for purpose Endeavour-wide technology landscape that enables business strategy, is fit for purpose, meets functional and non-functional requirements and ensures risk management (secure and stable) and effective application lifecycle management
3. Contribute to the development of the Endeavour Technology strategy and technology investment and policy decisions.
Architecture
4. Develop and own Enterprise Architecture for Endeavour including consideration of data, integration, security, infrastructure, minimisation of technology debt and includes transition states throughout the technology transformation
5. Ensure benchmarking and external expertise and assurance in the development of Enterprise Architecture and manage scope and deliverables across relevant partners
6. Manage the implementation of a pragmatic Architecture Governance Framework
7. Ensure technology decisions at Endeavour are aligned to the target state architecture and progressively simplify and modernise Endeavour’s technology landscape and reduce the total cost of ownership
8. Analyse the current business and technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
9. Develop and lead a Solution Architecture Practice that enables our technology domains and program and project teams and effectively supports solution option selection
10. Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision making for the enterprise.
11. Through this work support the development of 5+ year technology roadmaps for each of Endeavour’s technology domains
Governance & Policy
12. In partnership with the Transformation Director this role will define the governance framework for Endeavour’s technology transformation
13. Sole responsibility for defining governance for programs and projects outside of transformation
14. Ensure these frameworks are development in collaboration with the technology leadership team, effectively communicated and supported by appropriate tools
15. Support Domain leads to ensure program and project delivery is aligned to our governance approach and program and projects are audit ready and have appropriate external assurance
16. Develop and lead a Technology Project Management Practice that enables our technology domains and effectively supports program and project delivery
17. Lead and facilitate the development of the Endeavour technology policy framework and policies
Commercial
18. Lead the commercial function for Endeavour Technology ensuring Endeavour’s technology contracts meet commercial, technology and business and legal objectives
19. In partnership with legal, procurement and finance teams to ensure appropriate management and governance of contracts, purchase to pay and renewal decisions
20. Planning, budgeting and forecasting for the functional areas
21. Improve the efficiency of the functional area over time and support management of the total cost of ownership of Endeavour technology
Risk management
22. Partner with the technology leadership team to identify, assess, categorise and mitigate technology risk
23. Ensure architecture, commercial and governance risks are appropriately captured in the Endeavour risk management framework
Technology operations
24. Partner with Infrastructure and Services to understand challenges in the current technology landscape and support addressing these through both short-term and long-term plans
Thought leadership and innovation
25. Provide technology thought leadership and appropriate industry-leading practices
26. Enable innovation and POC’s to define target state architecture, governance frameworks and
Leadership and ways of working
27. Lead and inspire the Architecture and Governance team by role modelling the Endeavour Values and Ways of Working
28. Recruit, engage, manage and retain the highest quality talent, enabled through diversity of thought and experiences
29. Actively support the development, engagement and growth of technology talent across Endeavour and our roadmap to become a technology employer of choice
30. Actively and proactively collaborate across technology and with business partners
31. Actively assist in increasing technology literacy within the business
What you’ll need to succeed
32. Bachelor’s degree in technology or a related field
33. Technology experience (10+ years) across a broad range of disciplines
34. Excellent knowledge of Technology Architecture principles and practices and evidence of maintaining up to date knowledge of technology rest practices and trends including cloud, automated testing, test driven development, CI/CD and secure coding
35. Demonstrated success in defining and delivering target state Enterprise Architecture, preferably in the context of large scale technology transformation with complex interim states
36. Experience developing and operating governance frameworks for large scale programs and as part of broad technology transformations including a strong understanding of a range of delivery approaches
37. Experience in leading technology commercial functions to achieve differentiated outcomes
38. Experience identifying and managing technology risk - including managing and responding audits and an understanding of key risk themes such as cyber, data management, privacy and disaster recovery
39. Strong financial literacy including experience developing business cases, demonstrated effective cost management and effective prioritisation
40. Strong communication, collaboration and presentation skills
41. Strong track record of partnering with senior leaders to deliver differentiated outcomes
42. Demonstrated strength in leading and developing large scale technology teams
The following would also be highly desirable
43. Experience in large scale retail or hospitality businesses
44. Experience working in matrixed and/or agile organisations
