**About the role**
Our goal to build 'healthier rural people and thriving communities' is the shared responsibility of all involved in care of our patients and the Hospital Assistant is an integral and valued member of our team.
You will help nursing staff in hospitals and other health care establishments with non-medical duties including housekeeping, portering patients and general assistance.
You will need to be reliable, punctual and energetic, physically fit, have a caring and supportive attitude and use your good communication skills to be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Remaining calm in emergencies and the capability to handle equipment such as wheelchairs, beds and other medical equipment is also valued.
In a small, close knit team you will be well supported and your dedication will be seen and appreciated. You will be an integral member of the community and you'll see not only the results of your care, but the appreciation of the community of the role you play in their health.
What's more, you'll have the excellent career opportunities only a large organisation such as Western NSW Local Health District - servicing approximately 276 000 people with over 7500 staff, can provide.
