We're seeking a talented, proactive Emergency Management Officer to strengthen the Council's preparedness and support effective response during critical events, helping meet everyday community needs while ensuring we're ready to act when it matters most.

Working as part of a dedicated Emergency Management team, you'll play an important role in ensuring Council is well prepared to prevent, respond to and recover from emergencies. You'll work in a collaborative environment alongside internal teams, emergency services and key partners, contributing to coordinated and effective emergency management across the municipality.
What You'll Bring/what We Are Looking For
In this role, you'll support the delivery of the Council's responsibilities across emergency planning, preparedness, response and recovery. Working closely with the Emergency Management Team Leader, you'll help strengthen and continuously improve Council's emergency management systems, plans and subplans, ensuring they are practical, compliant and aligned with legislative requirements and community expectations. Your work will help keep Banyule well prepared to respond effectively when critical situations arise.
You'll Ideally Have
* Demonstrated interest in emergency management and experience in administration, governance and/or project management support.
* Ability to work cooperatively with others, contribute to positive team relationships and engage respectfully with a diverse range of people.
* Ability to contribute own expertise to achieve quality outcomes for the unit by being positive and flexible with day‐to‐day work changes, shifting priorities and periods of uncertainty.
* Ability to understand and support the organisation's vision, mission and business objectives and can contribute to the development of plans, strategies and team goals.
Pre‐employment Requirements
* Current Victorian Drivers Licence
* Current Working with Children's Check (Desirable)
* Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
* MEMO, EMLO or Psychological First Aid training (Desirable)
What We Offer
* A permanent, full‐time position with a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO)
* Salary $80,897.37 - $93,686.65 per annum plus super (dependent on experience)
* 26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave - partner
