We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver high-quality electrical engineering designs across various industrial and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development of electrical designs, including power distribution, motor control, protection systems, and lighting for industrial and commercial installations.
2. Oversee preparation of detailed drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and documentation using electrical CAD software.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and statutory regulations.
4. Maintain design quality through adherence to company procedures, peer reviews, and design checks.
5. Conduct and review electrical studies, including load flow, fault level, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis.
6. Review and approve designs, supplier documentation, and construction packages.
7. Provide input into project scoping, estimating, scheduling, and risk management.
8. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated design outcomes.
9. Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
10. Support commissioning teams and respond to site-based technical queries.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Minimum 8–10 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry sectors.
3. Strong knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems, equipment specifications, and design practices.
4. Proficient in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, or PowerTools.
5. Sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS/NZS 61439, and other relevant standards.
6. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
7. Proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
8. Current Australian working rights – Citizen / PR or Eligible Visa.
9. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ / RPEV).
10. Experience in site-based engineering, commissioning, or construction support.
11. Exposure to hazardous area classification and design (AS/NZS 60079).
12. Familiarity with digital engineering tools and design automation.
