Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Prosthetics and Orthotics services within the Department of Health.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Prosthetics and Orthotics services under minimal supervision within a
multidisciplinary framework, delivering comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, prescription, fitting and review for a mixed prosthetic
caseload.
2. Perform casting, scanning, measuring, alignment, fabrication coordination, adjustment and repair of prosthetic devices, ensuring the
manufacture of high-quality, evidence-based prosthetic solutions tailored to individual client needs.
3. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program, clinical, operational or technical issues to support safe and effective
service delivery.
4. Provide clinical and qualified supervision, guidance and support to students, junior clinicians and relevant staff, contributing to
capability building within the service.
5. Prioritise and manage an evolving caseload, balancing clinical and technical demands to ensure timely service provision and positive
health outcomes.
6. Co-ordinate and/or contribute to continuous quality improvement, service development and innovation, including audit, evaluation,
adoption of new technologies and implementation of best-practice models of care.
7. Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including multidisciplinary teams, community providers and funding
bodies, to support integrated care planning and streamlined service pathways.
8. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators, aligning service delivery with organisational
priorities, NT Health requirements and local population needs.
9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures, maintaining safe clinical environments,
compliant documentation, and active participation in risk management and incident reporting.
10. Foster a positive workplace culture through respectful communication, teamwork, exemplary professional conduct and role-modelling
NT Health values.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Prosthetics and Orthotics that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Australian Orthotic
Prosthetic Association (AOPA).
2. Experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics services to patients and families/carers.
3. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients and
families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working in a team
environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to professional development.
6. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
7. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high-volume workload.
Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications or experience in clinical education, leadership / management or speciality practice area.
