Your new team
Be part of a specialist internal product team dedicated to making development and the SDLC efficient, secure, and robust. You will engage with engineering teams, architects, and technical leads to ensure our core backend systems (RPG) and developer platforms enable the wider business to deliver value at speed.
As a key member of a technical delivery team, the Business Analyst works closely with the Product Owner and Engineering leads to ensure technical requirements are documented clearly. You will serve as a bridge between complex system constraints and modern development needs, ensuring that our internal engineering \"customers\" have the tools and stability they need to build great features.
The role
* Align information technology systems with business operations through the analysis of internal standards, legacy system capabilities (AS/400), and modern DevOps practices.
* Work effectively and autonomously with highly technical stakeholders (Developers, Architects, DevOps Engineers) to understand their friction points and requirements.
* Oversee and have accountability for the successful definition and readiness of assigned project work within the platform domain.
* Effectively facilitate technical workshops and planning sessions, demonstrating consensus-building skills among engineering groups with differing technical opinions.
* Proactively focus on \"Developer Experience\" (DevEx)—identifying and eliminating impediments in the SDLC to maximize flow and velocity for feature teams.
* Document complex technical requirements, system behaviours, and process flows (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, environment management) ensuring they are clear for implementation teams.
* Build strong, trusted relationships within the Developer Platform team and with the wider Engineering community by making work transparent and managing change as technical issues arise.
What experience you’ll bring
* Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within a technical domain, infrastructure, or platform team.
* High familiarity with developer practices, SDLC processes, and technical jargon. You do not need to code, but you must be able to follow technical logic and understand the implications of architectural decisions.
* Proficient skills in mapping technical workflows (e.g., release processes, environment promotions) and data models.
* Previous experience or familiarity with AS/400 (RPG) environments is advantageous.
* Ability to collaborate with engineering teams and bring together different technical and non-technical viewpoints to drive towards an optimal solution.
* Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity within legacy modernization or infrastructure projects.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical constraints into business impacts for non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience in supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) or technical verification phases.
* Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline are highly regarded but not essential.
* Previous experience working within regulated environments highly beneficial
