Job Title: Lead Deckhand
Job Summary:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee the smooth operation of the vessel, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing rigging tasks, coordinating with crew members, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily vessel maintenance to ensure optimal performance
* Assisting with snorkeling operations to provide an exceptional guest experience
* Conducting thorough briefings for guests to ensure they are aware of all safety procedures
* Ensuring strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards
* Facilitating effective communication between crew members and guests to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere
Requirements:
* Proven experience in customer-facing roles
* Previous experience working on commercial vessels is essential
* Basic machinery maintenance skills are necessary for the upkeep of the vessel
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are vital for interacting with crew members and guests
* Excellent physical fitness is required for the demands of the role
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals
* In-depth knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem
* Queensland First Aid certification, CPR training, and Advanced Oxygen administration skills
* Queensland RSA certification
* Queensland Food Handling Level 2 or higher qualification
Work Environment:
Full-time position based in Mission Beach, QLD
On-site role operating small fast catamarans to Beaver Reef and Dunk Island
