At PCH Civil, we're proud to deliver Straight-Up Excellence across some of Western Australia's most exciting civil and mining projects. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Payroll Officer to join our team and support the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll for our workforce.
Reporting to the HR Manager, this role is ideal for someone who is detail-driven, organised, and confident working across multiple sites, rosters, and stakeholder groups. You'll play a key part in ensuring our people are paid correctly — every time — while supporting broader HR administration when needed.
What You'll Do
• Process weekly and fortnightly payroll end-to-end using our payroll system.
• Enter, validate and reconcile timesheets across multiple sites and roster patterns.
• Interpret and apply awards, allowances, overtime, penalties, site rates and travel requirements.
• Maintain employee records, onboarding, terminations, variations and payroll compliance.
• Prepare payroll reports, summaries, journals, and assist with audits and month-end.
• Respond to payroll queries professionally and provide guidance to managers and employees.
• Work collaboratively with HR, Finance and Project Delivery teams to maintain data accuracy.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across systems, automation and processes.
• Assist HR with contract preparation, onboarding documents, training coordination, HRIS updates and compliance records when time permits.
What You'll Bring
• Experience in end-to-end payroll (civil/mining/construction preferred).
• Strong understanding of Fair Work, awards, NES, superannuation and payroll legislation.
• Experience with MYOB Acumatica/Advanced (or similar payroll/ERP systems).
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with site teams, supervisors and managers.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to improving processes and systems.
Desirable:
• Payroll qualifications and/or formal payroll compliance training.
• HR administration or HRIS experience.
• Experience in WA civil construction, FIFO rosters, or complex site allowances.
