The role of Payroll Officer involves accurately processing the fortnightly or monthly pay run, ensuring all processes are performed in line with company policies and statutory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
* Process accurate fortnightly pay runs for around 1500 employees on time.
* Complete pre-payroll process checks, follow up with P&C Ops for missing new starter data, and complete leave reconciliations as needed.
* Handle paid parental leave (GC and Government PPL), GC Purchased Leave Program, and maintain employee records – emails saved on employee files for auditing purposes.
* Set up and monitor novated lease deductions, provide payment confirmation reports to third parties, calculate pay adjustments for the monthly pay run, and process EFT file payments to employees.
* Calculate and prepare manual payments, including terminations, adjustments, and redundancy pays where necessary, and ensure correct reconciliation and payment of all deductions and Superannuation payments.
* Have a sound understanding of Awards and Enterprise Agreements, answer phone queries from staff and management, and monitor and respond in a timely manner to Payroll Emails and Workday Inbox for employee queries.
* Support the Timesheet Admin Users with ESS access and queries, and communicate with appropriate managers where issues become problematic.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position, demonstrated working knowledge of ADP Global View or SAP Payroll systems, experience with large payrolls, and capacity to handle high-pressure situations while continuing to perform duties accurately.
Additional desirable skills include diplomatic communication when answering telephone queries, accurate manual calculation of employees' pays (if necessary) annual leave, long service leave reconciliations, and terminations, and adaptability to changing environments.
