Project Director - Auckland - New Zealand
We are working with a leading tier one construction business delivering complex, large‐scale projects across New Zealand. Due to continued growth and a strong forward pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of major healthcare and life sciences developments.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing high‐value construction projects from early planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
The Role – As Project Director, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of large, technically complex projects. You will lead project teams across site and office environments while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the planning and delivery of major construction projects
* Managing multiple project teams in site‐based environments
* Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
* Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants and subcontractors
* Providing clear leadership and direction to project teams
* Maintaining strong project governance, reporting and administration
* Proactively identifying and resolving project issues as they arise
* Keeping stakeholders informed of progress and key milestones
About You
You are a highly experienced construction professional with a proven track record of delivering major projects from commencement through to practical completion and final account.
You will bring:
* About 20+ years' experience in the construction industry
* At least 10 years leading large healthcare and/or life sciences projects valued $150m+ for a main contractor
* Strong leadership experience managing large site‐based teams
* Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects in live or highly regulated environments
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Qualifications
* Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Engineering (Civil, Structural or Building Services)
* Membership or working towards membership with a relevant professional body such as NZIOB, MCIOB, ACE, ICE, CPEC or similar is advantageous
