Access Health and Community, a trusted leader in community care for over 150 years, is expanding through an exciting merger with Inspiro Health to deliver even stronger, more accessible services across the Yarra Ranges. With a combined team of over 550 healthcare professionals and volunteers across 18 locations, we are proud partners in delivering the Victorian Government’s new Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals initiative. Designed to offer free, voluntary, and easily accessible mental health support without the need for referrals, these services provide safe, inclusive, and community-connected care for individuals aged 26 and over, including those with co-occurring alcohol and drug support needs. Working alongside Wellways, Eastern Health, and Oonah, we are reimagining mental health and wellbeing through a \"no wrong door\" approach—focused on participant choice, empowerment, and support close to home. Mental Health & Wellbeing Locals - Yarra Ranges
(Wellways, Eastern Health, Inspiro Health & Oonah partnership)
We are looking Community Engagement & Capacity Building Worker to join our partnership delivering free, voluntary and accessible mental health and wellbeing support for adults (26+) across the Yarra Ranges. As our Community Engagement & Capacity Building Worker, you’ll help communities recognise, respond to and seek help for psychological distress—reducing stigma and building safer, more connected places for everyone.

Every workshop you facilitate, every local leader you equip, and every conversation you start can change a life. You’ll work alongside communities, partners and lived experience voices to lift mental health literacy, drive stigma reduction, and support community‑led solutions. You will operate with autonomy within delegated authority, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary, partnership‑based environment. Practice is recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed and culturally safe, grounded in integrity, compassion, equity and reconciliation with First Nations communities.
This a Permanent Full-time role is based primarily in Lilydale, with the flexibility to occasionally visit our Yarra Junction and Belgrave sites.

What You Will Be Doing
As part of our Lived & Living Experience team - Support and Connect, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to build trust and champion lived experience values. You'll use your own experience as a family member/carer to create a safe space for families and guide them through evidence-based care and support, helping them achieve well-being and thrive in the community.
Design, deliver and evaluate mental health literacy and education for community groups, organisations and local networksBuild community capacity to recognise signs of psychological distress and respond safely using practical toolsFacilitate workshops, forums and information sessions that promote awareness, inclusion and help‑seekingAdvocate for community‑identified needs and system improvements across the mental health and wellbeing ecosystemContribute to prevention and stigma‑reduction initiatives, aligned with recovery‑oriented and public health approaches.
What you will bring Key selection criteria
Minimum Diploma in a health‑related, community development or health promotion field2+ years’ experience in community engagement, education, capacity building or related rolesDemonstrated experience in capacity building, mental health education or health promotionLived or living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges (highly valued)Cert IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
Compliance Requirements
National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening CheckEvidence of the right to work in Australia and a valid Driver’s LicenceCompletion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module (free online).
