Faculty of Science Full-time permanent position Base salary will be in the range $91,658.60 - $98,330.37 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6) Based at our St Lucia Campus, with occasional travel to Gatton Campus as required About This Opportunity This role supports the facilities and infrastructure portfolio of the School/Faculty by ensuring effective maintenance and operations. Responsibilities include identifying and addressing facilities maintenance needs promptly and accurately, assisting with infrastructure projects, and maintaining the continuity of School/Faculty services. Additionally, the position manages local space allocation, oversees asset services, and administers SiPass (the enterprise system for building access) control and database management, ensuring seamless delivery of infrastructure and facility services. Key responsibilities will include: Contribute to funding submissions, project design briefs, defect resolution, and stakeholder engagement for infrastructure needs and OH&S compliance. Identify, log, and coordinate repairs and maintenance, supervise contractors, escalate unresolved issues, and collate data for insurance claims due to infrastructure failures. Conduct stocktakes to ensure smooth operations. Allocate and coordinate School space, conduct annual space editing, maintain up-to-date records, and assist with insurance audits. Liaise with P&F and ITS for procurement or disposal of furniture and equipment. Administer access control systems, manage keys and SiPass operations, and respond to security alarms. Demonstrated commitment to a high standard of customer service, and a willingness and ability to perform a wide range of operational tasks. Demonstrated experience and skills in managing small projects in the area of facilities and infrastructure, and budgets. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to engage effectively, in writing and in person, with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated computer literacy and skills in Microsoft Office and MS Project. Analytical skills sufficient to assess problems and propose appropriate solutions. Must be self-motivated and able to work constructively to objectives with limited guidance. Extensive knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems within a scientific building. Sound knowledge of mechanical workshop skills. Ability to interpret scientific requirements in the context of equipment installation, manufacture and repair. Able to explain technical parameters in terms able to be understood by staff and students. Ability to work under broad direction and exercise initiative and judgement. Desirable: HVAC/Electrical trade background Knowledge of the University’s policies and procedures relating to Occupational Health and Safety, the Risk Assessment database, and the on-line Purchasing system. Knowledge and experience using the University’s property and facilities corporate software (Archibus).
