We are a Melbourne based engineering and detailing consultancy delivering structural steel and precast concrete projects across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. With continued growth in our detailing and BIM capability, we are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Shop Detail Modeller to lead project delivery and support the development of our in-house team.
The Role
This role suits an experienced Tekla Detailer who can independently manage detailing packages from commencement through to fabrication. You will take ownership of modelling, documentation, and coordination, while supporting junior team members and working closely with engineers, fabricators, and builders.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead 3D modelling and detailing of structural steel using Tekla Structures
* Produce accurate, buildable fabrication drawings with minimal supervision
* Manage detailing packages, including planning, tracking, and delivery
* Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, and project teams to resolve design and constructability issues
* Review and check drawings before issuing
* Mentor and support junior detailers
* Contribute to improving detailing standards, workflows, and QA processes
* Provide practical input on connection design, sequencing, and erection methodology
About You
* 5+ years' experience in structural steel detailing, local experience preferred
* Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures
* Solid understanding of steel connections and fabrication processes
* Good working knowledge of Australian Standards and industry practices
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Confident communicator with fabricators and site teams
* Proactive and solutions-focused
* Additional Precast concrete shop detailing experience is an advantage.
