About the role
Zoe Support Australia is seeking a Cultural Connections Worker on a contract basis to join our team in Mildura, Victoria. As a Cultural Connections Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting young parents and their families by facilitating cultural activities and fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.
Generous SCHADS Award salary
Brand new fixed term role month contract dependent on flexible hours negotiated, this can be from FTE, equivalent to 2-4 days per week
We will be holding interviews as applications come in during the recruitment process so the position may be filled prior to closing date of 25th September 2025.
What you'll be doing
* Organise and lead cultural workshops, programs, and events that celebrate the diverse backgrounds of the young families we support
* Build connections between young Aboriginal parents and their communities to promote cultural awareness and understanding to build on their self determination
* Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to young Aboriginal parents, helping them to explore and embrace their cultural heritage
* Collaborate with other Zoe Support Australia staff to integrate cultural elements into the organisation's services and initiatives including being involved with Zoe Support Australia's Reconciliation Action Group to draft our Reconciliation Action Plan.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to cultural activities and client engagement
* Contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the Zoe Support Australia team
What we're looking for
* Identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent, as we consider this a genuine occupational requirement for this position under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, part 4 S 28; 12
* Demonstrated experience in community engagement, youth work, or a related field
* Strong understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, particularly those represented within the local community
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young parents and their families
* Creativity and a passion for designing and delivering engaging cultural programs and activities
* Knowledge of local community resources and networks that can support the cultural needs of young families
* Relevant qualifications and or experience in youth work, community services, or a related discipline

About us
Zoe Support Australia is a place based not for profit community service organisation in Mildura creating a supportive community for young mothers ages up to 25 and their children, assisting them on their parenting and education journey. Our mission is to provide holistic support services that help young parents overcome barriers, build resilience, and achieve their goals.
Each year we provide support to on average 110 vulnerable young mothers, of these mothers more than 30% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. With such a significant portion of our client and children identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, this program aims to provide greater assistance for these young women to achieve their parenting goals, engage in education and employment and connect with their culture through self-determination and supported case management.
