Offer description

Location: Canberra
- Job Type: Ongoing full-time
- Salary: $86,452 - $97,832

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General's Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.

The ACIC is at the forefront of tackling serious and organised crime targeting Australia, both within our borders and offshore. Our staff operate against a pervasive, transnational and globalised criminal threat, and work hard to realise an Australia hostile to criminal exploitation. As a small agency that makes a real impact on serious and organised crime, we need talented and dedicated people who are intelligent, highly capable and seeking to make a difference to the lives of all Australians.

**About the branch**
Executive Branch leads the development of ACIC policy and strategy while delivering high-quality stakeholder engagement, governance, reporting and communication services.

The branch serves as an interface between the ACIC's intelligence collection capabilities and the development of whole-of-government strategies, policies and initiatives. It has a high level of engagement with the agency's external stakeholders as well as providing ministerial and board liaison and support, including secretariat support for external and internal governance committees.

Executive Branch coordinates the agency's media response, manages our online channels, and provides communication and graphic design support. It also ensures the ACIC operates effectively to deliver on its purpose and communicate its achievements through strategic planning and performance reporting.

**About the role**
The Ministerial and Government Relations team works closely with the ACIC Executive in relation to matters of strategic importance that require broad agency consideration. The team provides advice, support and liaison with the Attorney-General's Department and the Minister's office. The team is also responsible for coordinating incoming international visits and engagement with key external stakeholders.

On a day-to-day basis the team provides ministerial support, cabinet and parliamentary liaison, responses to government inquiries and consultation across the agency on policy and legislative changes.

The Ministerial and Government Relations Advisor role will provide support across the team.
- Experience in ministerial, parliamentary or government relations roles.
- Ability to contribute to strategic thinking, demonstrate leadership, and contribute to organisational goals.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to effectively prioritise to meet deadlines and manage competing tasks, and demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills in complex matters.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a complex group of stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a team, contribute to shared outcomes and implement solutions to problems and support others.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to use clear written and oral communication.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS, unless the agency head has agreed otherwise, in writing. For further information, contact the Recruitment Team.
- The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance for this role. All ACIC employees are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
- To be eligible to work at the ACIC, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Being fully vaccinated ensures the health and safety of all employees, and the Australian community. Satisfactory proof of vaccination status will be required before you are able to commence employment with the ACIC.

More information about our conditions is available in the ACIC Enterprise Agreement 2016-2019 and Determination 2019/1 on our website.
