Earn while you learn! This exciting traineeship opportunity will see you working in Council's Plant, Fleet & Buildings team, gaining hands‐on experience in stores operations, inventory management and customer service at the Alan Turner Depot.

A traineeship combines full‐time employment with paid training and on‐the‐job experience. As the Trainee Stores Assistant, you'll support the organisation and management of stock and supplies, assist internal customers, and develop practical skills in warehouse operations, plant and equipment handling, and depot maintenance.

What We Will Offer You

* Traineeship for two (2) years with potential for ongoing employment
* Obtain a nationally recognised qualification relevant to Warehousing and Supply Chain Operations
* Above award rates! Commencing salary of $1,654.80 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per Award provisions
* Access to Council's 9‐day fortnight
* Further opportunities to grow your skill set through additional licences and industry certifications

During your traineeship, you will have the opportunity to obtain:

* General Construction Induction (White Card)
* Forklift licence
* Front End Loader Licence
* Telescopic Materials Handler Certification
* Chemical Safety Certificate

Types of tasks / activities completed in the role

* Assist with picking, packing and preparing orders for dispatch or collection
* Support internal stakeholders with product enquiries and customer service
* Learn to load and unload trucks using forklifts and other plant equipment
* Assist with stock control, stocktaking and inventory system updates
* Support processing of orders, returns and documentation
* Assist with hire arrangements for fleet items
* Maintain a clean, safe and organised stores environment
* Learn to conduct general depot maintenance and security procedures
* Utilise and maintain small plant, tools and PPE in accordance with Council standards

Traineeship information

This traineeship will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in local government operations and stores management, while being supported to learn and grow in a practical, hands‐on working environment.

Across 24 months you will work full‐time (38‐hour week) alongside experienced supervisors and team members, gaining real industry experience while completing your nationally recognised qualification. Paid study time is included as part of the traineeship.

As The Successful Applicant, You Will Need

* a current Class P1, P2 or C Driver's Licence
* General Construction Induction Training Card (or willingness to obtain)
* Full rights to work and study in Australia
* a willingness to obtain required licences and certificates
* a strong commitment to safety and following Work Health and Safety requirements
* a genuine interest in learning new skills and providing excellent customer service
