The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General's Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.
The ACIC is at the forefront of tackling serious and organised crime targeting Australia, both within our borders and offshore. Our staff operate against a pervasive, transnational and globalised criminal threat, and work hard to realise an Australia hostile to criminal exploitation. As a small agency that makes a real impact on serious and organised crime, we need talented and dedicated people who are intelligent, highly capable and seeking to make a difference to the lives of all Australians.
**About the branch**
The ACIC partners with Australian police agencies to provide the National Police Checking Service (NPCS or the Service). The NPCS helps to protect the safety of the community by minimising the risk of appointing someone unsuitable to a position of trust. The service is delivered to Australian police agencies and organisations who are accredited with the ACIC to submit Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks (police checks).
The NPCS accredits organisations known as accredited bodies to perform functions on behalf of the ACIC for individuals accessing the Service.
**About the roles**
The Assistant Directors will provide expert advice in identifying, monitoring and verifying the performance of Accredited Bodies to ensure compliance with their contractual obligations and minimise risk to the Service.
The roles will be required to drive ongoing improvements in the NPCS, whilst managing complex issues and providing input that contributes to the strategic direction of the NPCS.
