About the role
Our federal government client is looking for a talented UX/UI Designer to transform complex digital services into intuitive, accessible and user-centred experiences. This role combines strategic research and hands-on interface design to deliver high-quality websites, dashboards and digital platforms that meet government standards and make a meaningful impact for users.
Responsibilities
Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviours and pain points for the agency's digital services
Design user interfaces and interactions for websites, dashboards and digital products
Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs that translate user needs into functional solutions
Support the implementation of designs by working closely with developers throughout the development process
Contribute to improving the overall user experience of the agency's digital service
Apply user-centred design principles and methodologies to all design work
Ensure designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and are inclusive of all users
Collaborate with developers, service designers and data specialists to deliver cohesive digital experiences
Participate in design reviews and contribute to establishing design standards and patterns
Support the team in meeting Digital Service Standard requirements through good design practice
Essential criteria
Demonstrated experience in UX and UI design for digital products, including websites, dashboards or web applications
Strong skills in user research methodologies and translating research insights into design solutions
Proficiency in Figma for creating wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs
Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and inclusive design principles
Ability to work collaboratively with developers and other team members, with strong communication skills and attention to detail
Desirable criteria
Experience working in government or public sector environments
Familiarity with the Digital Service Standard and user-centred design practices in government contexts
