We are seeking a highly technical and commercially minded Risk & Compliance Manager to join a growing consumer finance business. This role will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's risk and compliance framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations, and embedding a strong risk culture across the business.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across credit licensing, controls assurance, and the design and implementation of policies and frameworks, ideally within a lending or financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk & Compliance Framework
* Design, implement, and continuously enhance the enterprise-wide risk management and compliance framework
* Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
* Provide ongoing monitoring and reporting on risk exposures and compliance performance
Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
* Oversee compliance with Australian credit licensing obligations (e.g. NCCP, responsible lending)
* Act as the key point of contact for regulatory bodies and manage regulatory reporting requirements
* Interpret and implement new and evolving regulatory requirements impacting the business
* Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures across risk and compliance
* Ensure policies are practical, embedded, and aligned with operational processes
* Drive awareness and training across the business to ensure effective implementation
Controls Assurance
* Design and implement controls frameworks to mitigate key risks
* Conduct regular controls testing, assurance reviews, and gap analysis
* Partner with business units to remediate control weaknesses and improve processes
* Provide proactive risk and compliance advice to senior stakeholders and business units
* Work closely with operations, credit, and product teams to support business initiatives
* Promote a strong risk culture through education and engagement
Reporting & Governance
* Prepare and present risk and compliance reports to senior management and board committees
* Maintain risk registers, incident logs, and compliance monitoring programs
* Support internal and external audits
Key Requirements
* 5+ years' experience in risk and compliance within consumer finance, lending, or financial services
* Strong knowledge of Australian credit licensing requirements (e.g. NCCP, ASIC regulations)
* Proven experience in designing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks
* Hands‐on experience with controls assurance, testing, and remediation
* Strong understanding of operational risk, compliance risk, and regulatory frameworks
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Ability to operate both strategically and hands‐on in a growing business
