What You Will Be Doing
As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will report to the Hospital Collector Lead and work in a team across all wards including Paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation, using your empathy and drive to deliver great customer service and quality healthcare.
An important part of your role will include using your exceptional communication and relationship building skills as you liaise with doctors, nurses and patients to understand the needs and requirements of the environment and patient.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Liaising and building effective relationships with a range of different stakeholders within the hospital including doctors, nurses and patients
* Advanced Pathology Collection – collecting samples (blood and non‐blood) across different wards and areas including Paediatrics, difficult bleeds and AGBs with care and attention
* Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Pathology Collector. You could currently work in a hospital or a clinic and are looking to diversify and grow your career. You could also be a Registered Nurse looking to swap overnight work for regular daytime shifts. You will be a great communicator and relationship builder, be professional and proactive in your approach to working with the different stakeholders in the hospital, and will be someone who goes above and beyond to provide quality patient care.
Attributes & Skills
* Demonstrated experience and knowledge in phlebotomy ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a nursing background
* Excellent liaison and communication skills, with a high level of empathy and patient‐centred approach
* Organised, with high attention to detail
* Hold a Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one
* Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zeland citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
* Vaccine‐preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
* Other vaccinations based on location may be required
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
A valid Working With Children Check is required for this role. You must either hold an existing WWCC or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
