Demonstrated expertise in DET systems, platforms and compliance requirements Highly developed knowledge and experience working within Department of Education Victoria ICT environments, including:
* CASES21
* eduPay (where relevant)
* Compass
* School Information Portal (SIP)
* eduSTAR / SOE environments
* DET network architecture and security protocols
* Cybersecurity requirements aligned to DET policies
Demonstrated capacity to ensure systems operate securely, efficiently and in full compliance with DET standards, audit requirements and Child Safe obligations. 2. Strategic ICT leadership and systems management Proven ability to lead, plan and manage whole-school ICT infrastructure including:
* Network administration and troubleshooting
* Device fleet management (Windows, iPads, BYOD environments)
* Server and cloud-based systems (Google Workspace / Microsoft 365)
* Backup and disaster recovery planning
* Long-term ICT planning aligned to School Strategic Plan and AIP priorities
Demonstrated capacity to balance operational responsiveness with strategic improvement. 3. Exceptional people and communication skills Demonstrated ability to:
* Translate complex technical information into accessible language for staff
* Provide professional learning and coaching to build staff digital capability
* Build strong working relationships with leadership, teaching staff and ES staff
* Manage competing priorities calmly and professionally
* Respond to issues with a solutions-focused, service-oriented mindset
Experience supporting staff with varying levels of digital proficiency. 4. Experience working with external agencies and vendors Proven ability to effectively liaise and manage relationships with:
* DET ICT support services
* External Managed Service Providers
* Software vendors and third-party platforms
* Telecommunications providers
* Infrastructure contractors
Demonstrated ability to negotiate service agreements, oversee project delivery, and ensure value for money and compliance with procurement requirements. 5. Strong governance, risk management and data security practices Demonstrated understanding of:
* Data privacy legislation
* Records management obligations
* Cybersecurity risk mitigation
* Child Safe Standards in digital environments
* Acceptable Use and Digital Technologies policies
Capacity to proactively identify risks, implement safeguards, and maintain a secure and safe digital learning environment for students and staff.
Role [Attendance requirement for this position] Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations. Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers. Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities
* Undertake systems design, program design and specification and direct programming changes necessary to enhance, modify or maintain a computer system.
* Evaluate and report on the operational efficiency of computer systems in production, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
* Examine and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of hardware configurations, software operating systems, data transmission networks and generalised software packages.
* Develop and conduct training programs for computer systems users.
* Modify and adapt accepted methods and guidelines and interpret and analyse complex data across several sub-disciplines.
* Develop techniques and procedures that will affect work practices beyond the work place.
* Manage a technical program with a broad scope across the school.
