Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Who we are looking for
As a
Geologist
, you will execute and support exploration programs through high-quality fieldwork, detailed data analysis, and strict compliance with industry standards. You'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement, promoting safety, and fostering team development, while contributing to the discovery and sustainable management of natural resources. This position offers the opportunity to apply your expertise to shape critical decisions that impact both operational success and environmental stewardship. This role will be FIFO on an 8:6 roster based out of Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide.
Key Work Activities
* Designing, planning and supervising exploration programs ensuring they meet objectives, adhering to standards, and delivering within agreed timelines.
* Monitoring exploration performance against established KPIs, providing regular progress updates, and analysing results to support decision-making.
* Overseeing contractor activities and team operations to maintain compliance with contractual obligations and exploration objectives, whiles delivering training and mentoring to technicians.
* Compiling, assessing and interpreting analytical data, preparing detailed reports, and contributing to the development and delivery of exploration work plans.
* Developing and scheduling work activities across short term (daily and weekly) timeframes, reporting on program progress and following up on recommendations to ensure continuous improvement.
Capabilities Required
* Professional degree in Geological Science or a related discipline, with experience in exploration management, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and greenfield exploration across diverse geographic settings.
* Strong technical capability in geological data collection and interpretation, exploration program design, target charaterisation and data visualization through analytical tools and databases.
* Demonstrated team work and organisastional skills, including the ability to collaborate with team members, perform collectively, and foster communication between multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
* High level of self-awareness and adaptability, with proven ability to build positive working relationships, collaborate effectively, and improve processes through practical judgement, observation, and continuous learning.
